It’s hard to sleep on a train, even though the rattling is so soothing. You feel sleepy but your eyes just won’t stay shut. You look outside the window, but the night had hidden all shapes and colors. At the small train stations weak lamps illuminate with their soft, yellow light high snow drifts. You see people wrapping their clothes, shifting from foot to foot, blowing into their palms and despite the strong heating in the wagon you can somehow feel the cold outside. You shiver slightly. You want to sleep. It is funny but you don’t really wish to have arrived already. Instead you wish that you had never left. From the place where someone kissed you goodbye, to the place where no one is awaiting you.
It sounds so unreasonable, yet so many people do it.
